Filipe is a dynamic and talented architectural designer with an accomplished background in multi-family, commercial, and civic projects. He is interested in achieving holistic design solutions, and enjoys every aspect of the design process from devising context appropriate schematic concepts to composing a detailed finished project.
Filipe believes that architecture should extend into the realm of environmental stewardship and has volunteered in various group initiatives and competitions. He is a member of a community design group, The People’s Plan for McMillan Park, which proposed an alternative design the development of the historic McMillan Sand Filtration Plant in Washington, DC. Recently, Filipe and his team’s project won 1st Place for the NAIOP National ‘Niche Development Design Competition,’ which envisioned the design needs for the growing senior population.
Filipe holds two master degrees from The Catholic University of America School of Architecture and Planning: Master of Architecture with a concentration in urban architecture and Master of City and Regional Planning. He was recipient of the 2015 Pierre Paul Childs Memorial Thesis Award for Excellence in Architecture and Urban Design and 2015 Awards Jury for Thesis Research and Design.
