The Grace and Reva, located at 1900 Crystal Drive in Arlington, Virginia, are part of a larger redevelopment effort in National Landing, the location of Amazon’s new headquarters just outside of Washington, DC. The pair of mixed-use towers share an underground parking podium with approximately 39,000 SF of ground floor retail which fronts on all 4 sides of the development block. The towers are split by a pedestrian way that connects to an existing plaza, activated by operable retail storefronts. Attention was paid to deliver unique storefronts on each tower and the adjacent alley facing retail.
Nahra served as the Retail Architect on both towers, working with the design and development teams from the schematic design phase through lease up. Nahra advised on the configuration of retail infrastructure, logistics, storefront design, ground plane placemaking and other aspects of the base building configuration to be considered when delivering high-value retail space in a complex mixed-use tall building. Additionally, Nahra supported the retail leasing efforts with key tenant test fits, retail design guidelines, demising studies, white box fit-outs, lease plans and other collateral.
