A prominent Washington, DC University asked Nahra Design Group to design a fast casual dining concept for their students and staff. Intended for quick service and frequent turnover, careful attention was paid to traffic flow through the space and the durability of materials, without sacrificing aesthetics and design quality. Simple, inexpensive materials were used in creative ways such as vertically stacked white glazed tiles, plywood millwork, and a trellis structure over the dining area to create an informal, but open look. Central to the concept is a painted mural of a refurbished farm truck, owned by the University, which inspired the bright blue accent color throughout the space.
